Mission Dolores ("Mission of Sorrows") is one of my favorite places in San Francisco. Besides being the oldest mission church in California (one of Fr Serra's missions), it was also used for the filming of the famous graveyard scene in Alfred Hitchcock's movie Vertigo. Bernard Herrmann's theme music swelled in my headphones as I walked through the little door at the side of the church to enter the cemetery. Can you tell the spot where Carlotta Valdes' grave was in the movie?
