Hang Ten, Baby!

That has been a rallying cry used by surfers for many years. It is starting to have great relevance for Commodore Wheels users.

Maurice Randall has been very hard at work, since his announcement last fall, creating the first Graphical Web Browser for Commodore computers. While the Graphics portion of the software isn't working yet, Maurice has made great strides on the rest of the package.

The Wave (with versions for both the 64 and 128) is more than just a Browser. It aims at becoming a central location for surfing your Wheels as well as the Web. You can launch other Applications (like geoWrite or PostPrint) and Desk Accessories from The Wave. You can dial a BBS, a text-based ISP or a Graphical Web Account (the same kind you would use from a PC). You can upload and download files from the Internet. If you want to look at Web Pages, you can browse any that are stored locally on your Commodore System.

The Wave has gone through many revisions and each one has brought some new features. Members of the COPS Internet Mailing List are doing Beta-testing for Maurice. What great fun!

Geoff Sullivan has also made some outstanding fonts for use with The Wave. These fonts have improved also and using The Wave 64 is now just as pleasing to the eye as using Novaterm on a 128.

If you have the hardware and get a chance to test The Wave, I would encourage you to jump. If you don't have the hardware I would encourage you to get it. Your time at the keyboard will never be the same again!

Where's my board? I think I see a swell on the horizon!
